Wheat procurement begins at Jalandhar grain market

On the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi, the procurement of wheat started today at the grain market, Jalandhar. The grain markets in the district are to procure 4.8 lakh metric ton wheat in this season.

Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner today inspected the arrangements in the grain market. Speaking on the occasion, he said with a view to smoothen the procurement procedure, 79 centres had been set up in the district. The arrangements of gunny bags and lifting of wheat had already been done properly. He said farmers would not have wait for the procurement as a speedy procurement had been ensured by the administration.

He also urged the farmers to bring wheat that had dried properly in order to evade harassment during the procurement. The administration has already banned wheat harvesting by combines in the night.
