In one and half years old murder, a woman was among two acquitted by the court. Her alleged paramour was however granted life imprisonment in the case. The judgment was pronounced by the court of Districts and Sessions Judge R S Attri.
The acquitted persons are Sonia and Harminder Singh while Munish was granted life term.
The incident had occurred on August 13, 2013 when murderous attack was allegedly orchestrated on 28-year-old Kuldeep Singh, allegedly by deceased’s wife Sonia and her paramour Munish and Munish’s friend Harminder. Kuldeep was attacked when he was sitting in the park alone. The attackers had rendered head injuries on Kuldeep and left him considering dead.
As per the police, Kuldeep was attacked with sharp-edged weapons allegedly by trio. The victim, with severe injuries was admitted to the local hospital where he succumbed to the injuries in few days. The police had arrested the three on August 14.
Sources said Kuldeep had married to Sonia in 2011 and left for Dubai after the marriage. He returned from Dubai only after he was informed by someone that his wife had extra marital affair in India. After the attack, deceased’s kin leveled allegation of murder on Sonia. Deceased’s kin told the police that Sonia was into extra marital affair with Munish and considered Kuldeep as a hurdle in her affair hence she along with his friend Munish and Harminder planned to kill him.
Mandeep Sachdev prosecution lawyer of Sonia and Harminder, who was acquitted from the murder charges, said he had proved in the court that Sonia and Harminder had no role in murder. “Sonia was already having strained relations with Kuldeep and she was not present at the spot during the attack while Harminder had not participated in the attack at all,” said Sachdev.
