Women demand ban on ‘surrogacy industry’

Jalandhar: While observing the Nirbhaya Diwas at New Delhi, the Instari Jagriti Manch demanded complete ban on ''surrogacy industry'' in India. They also observed dharna on the same demand.

While observing the Nirbhaya Diwas at New Delhi, the Instari Jagriti Manch demanded complete ban on 'surrogacy industry' in India. They also observed dharna on the same demand. 

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Istari Jagriti Manch state president Gurbaksh Kaur Sangha said, "Surrogacy industry is being propagated in India with the slogans like women empowerment and employment. Very few countries in the world have legalised surrogacy, and India is one of them." 

She said, "Under the surrogacy industry, the poor women of India are being exploited. They join this industry finding no other way feed their families and funding the education of their children."  Sangha also said, "Such an exploitation of women will not tolerated at any cost."
