Under the ‘Parho Punjab, Parhao Punjab’ state pilot project, a three-day seminar-cum-workshop for government school teachers is underway in all 19 blocks of the district in order to make teachers learn new teaching techniques and adopt different ways of learning.
The seminar has been organised following the guidelines issued by Education Secretary, Krishan Kumar.
He has asked all district coordinators of the project to conduct the workshop and ensure that maximum number of teachers should participate in the workshop.
District Coordinator Varindervir Singh, said, “In the workshop, the teachers were given study material for the students and practice the way of fun learning teaching.”
“The teachers are making efforts to learn and guide each other different techniques of teaching so as to develop better understanding and relation with students,” he added.
The highlight of the workshop is that the syllabus has been incorporated with ‘Parho Punjab, Parhao Punjab’ project. Now the teachers are teaching the same academic course as part of the project by adopting the skills imparted to them by ‘Parho Punjab Parhao, Punjab’ team, he added.
He said, “The teachers are taught about the methods that match the level of children. For instance, sometimes they teach in a way that seems to be difficult for students to catch, so in the workshop the focus has been laid in grasping the techniques that are student-friendly.”
Kamalpreet Kaur, a government teacher, said, “The workshop is beneficial for the teachers as it provides an idea of how to deal with the students and make them understand the lessons easily. The workshop also laid emphasis on how to improve weak students’ performance and make them develop interest in subjects they are afraid of.”
