Yout urged to shun drugs at DAV College function

Mohan Lal Uppal DAV College, Phagwara, organised a fete-cum-raffle draw function  with the theme ‘Say no to drugs”. Social activist Rajvinder Gogna inaugurated the function.
Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment  Vijay Sampla was the chief guest at the function. Superintendent of Police, Phagwara,  Rajeshwar Singh was the guest of honour. Principal Dr Suman Tandon welcomed the guests and said the aim behind organising the function was to inspire the students to stay away from drugs and build organisational and cultural potential in them.
Rajvinder Gogna inaugurated various stalls like Luck dip game, Tambola, Hit the target, Gift in balloon, Don’t ring the bell, Try your luck, Match the mash, Reverse A to Z, DJ and Double your money game organised by the students of the college. The different game stalls presented a colourful and lively scene at the fete. The students also enjoyed the merry-go-round and danced on the DJ floor.
Vijay Sampla congratulated the principal and staff and motivated the students to show excellent results in every field and appreciated the quality of education at the institute. He also inspired the students saying the youth are the nation builders and they should not take to drugs.
SP  Rajeshwar Singh said moral values should be a part and parcel of the education system. The minds of the youth should be strong enough to inculcate values, he pointed out.
Promila Uppal, chairperson of the college and other members of the local managing committee Shiv Rattan Uppal, Om Uppal,   SN Chopra,  SN Aggarwal and  Tara Chand Chumber also graced the occasion. Philanthropist  Lucky Arora and  Sushil Maini were also present.
In the evening, renowned singer Mann Dhillon entertained the audience with his performance. He also exhorted the youth to shun drugs.
Famous RJ Pak Pak Deepak (98.3 FM) also entertained the audience. The old students of the college, now renowned comedian, Jatinder Suri Pawan Bawa, Bindas Vikas(RJ 94.3FM) and  Satti Sembi entertained the audience with their performances.
Later, Sampla announced the winners of the raffle draw and distributed prizes among the winners. Principal Dr Suman Tandon thanked the guests by presenting them with mementoes. She thanked Prof Binay Kumar, in-charge of the function, the staff and students for making the function a success.
