Governor NN Vohra, Patron of the J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides (S&G), presented the Rajya Puraskar to 135 Scouts and Guides and 20 Rovers and Rangers of the state at a ceremony held at Raj Bhawan here today.
First Lady Usha Vohra, Minister for Public Works and J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides (S&G) chief Naeem Akhtar Andrabi and other dignitaries were presented Scout Scarves.
The Governor congratulated the awardees and wished them bright careers ahead. He lauded the valuable work being done by the functionaries of the J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides. He stressed the government’s responsibility for allocating adequate funds to support the maintenance and growth of the Scouts and Guides movement and to bring more youth under its ambit. He said he would discuss with the Education Minister about the allocation of an unused government school building to the organisation.
The Governor observed that if the political system and society want the youth to be at the forefront in every arena, establishing a peaceful environment is imperative. He wished the continuing success to the Scouts and Guides movement and to all their leaders and seniors.
Andrabi shared his experiences of being associated with the Scouts and Guides movement since his school days and highlighted the importance of such activities shaping sound minds and healthy bodies.
Roma Wani, senior vice-president, J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides, presented the progress report of the organisation.
