Srinagar, January 2
A day after after a video of Jaish-e-Mohammad local fidayeen Fardeen Khanday surfaced, calling for youth to join militancy, the J&K Police claimed that three militant-recruits have returned home.
J&K Police chief Shesh Paul Vaid took to the social media to announce the return of three youths. “Three young boys in the Valley came back home in response to the call of their families. God bless them,” Vaid tweeted
While he did not disclose the identity of the three, sources said the three were from south Kashmir and north Kashmir. The J&K Police have been making efforts to bring back local militants to the mainstream. In fact, the police claim that at least 10 youths, including 20-year-old Majid Khan, footballer-turned-militant, have returned home since December 1.
Buoyed by Khan’s return, families of many militants have been appealing to their militant sons through the social media for their return. The police, however, have not disclosed the identity of the militant-recruits who return home.
