A first: ‘Discover Dogri’ mobile app launched

The country’s first Dogri mobile application — “Discover Dogri” — was launched as part of an effort to promote and save the language.
The event began with the inauguration of the digital version of Kunwar Viyogi’s book of Dogri Sonnets —“Pehliyaan Banga”.
Dean, Academic Affairs, Cluster University of Jammu, Prof Poonam Dhawan was the chief guest on the occasion.
“What’s most interesting in the app is the ‘Launch your Book’ feature that will also enable writers to showcase their books,” said Aayushman Jamwal, trust adviser.
The trust also unveiled a Dogri music video — “Aayi Khushboo”. Shot at the Surinsar lake, the lyrics are penned by Kunwar Viyogi and choreographed by Kathak dancer Sanchita Abrol and sung by Jitender Singh Jamwal.
Moreover, the digital book hosts sonnet recitation by renowned Dogri writers.
Tool to understand, learn language
- The app is a technological invention of the Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust under its ‘Save the Language’ campaign
- It will enable people to learn, understand and converse in Dogri
