To facilitate the people of Srinagar to book air tickets, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has established ticketing counters for all airlines at the tourist reception centre (TRC) in Srinagar city.
The airlines ticketing counter with eight terminals has been established at the TRC, Srinagar, which was made functional on Monday.
According to the authorities, it was made available at the TRC, as the telephone lines and Internet had not been working in Kashmir and the people had to go to the airport to book their tickets.
Due to the restriction in the valley and limited transport on road, the people were facing problem to reach the airport to book their air tickets. The authorities claimed that the facility would make it easier for the passengers to book the tickets from Srinagar City.
All mobile phone, internet and landline services were snapped on August 4 late night as precautionary measures ahead of scraping of Article 370 and bifurcation of the state with UT status on August 5.
There was a curfew-like situation in Kashmir Valley from August 5 onwards, with limited relaxation. Though the administration has opened the schools and government offices and the Valley is moving towards normalcy, getting an air ticket was still a difficult task for the locals, as the distance from Srinagar city to the airport is about 20-km.
