Minister of State for Social Welfare, Health and Medical Education Asiea Niqash today convened a meeting to review the status of the various ongoing projects being executed under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) in Jammu division.
It was informed in the meeting that the ICDS, extended to all districts of Jammu and Kashmir, now had 29,267 anganwadi centres operational besides 2,339 new centres had been approved in 2016-17.
It was also informed that apart from the ICDS anganwadi centres, implementation of other schemes like Kishori Shakti Yojana, Sabla, Indira Gandhi Matritva Sahyog Yojana, Ladli Beti and Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana had also been entrusted to the State Mission Director, ICDS. Besides, 96 per cent of the anganwadi centres are operating from rented buildings and the Ministry of Women and Child Development has approved the funding for the construction of 1,000 new anganwadi buildings in convergence with the MGNREGA, the meeting informed.
