As a part of a project by displaced Pandit writers to preserve their ancient literary works and make them available to the new generation, ‘Abhinavagupta Paattha’, a critical study of Bhagavad Gita, was released on Monday.
The project was undertaken by Samprati, an organisation of displaced writers and scholars, who are working to document ancient literature produced in the Kashmir valley.
The critical analysis of the ancient text has been conducted by noted scholar RL Bhat. The book release function was attended by prominent historians and scholars of J&K.
Noted historian MH Zafar, who read a paper reviewing the work, said, “This is a meticulously conducted research and reading the book is a rewarding and enriching experience not only because it studies a great scripture but because it introduces us to the Kashmiri mindscape over the centuries.”
The function was presided over by noted Sanskrit scholar and former principal, Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Jammu, Vishvamurti Shastri. Acharya Shiva Prasad, state president of the Abhinava Gupta Centenary, was the chief guest on the occasion.
