CRPF, police review election security
Srinagar, September 27
A joint security review meeting was held to review the preparedness for the upcoming panchayat and urban local bodies elections by CRPF Director General RR Bhatnagar and state police chief Dilbag Singh.
The officers reviewed the security measures put in place for the upcoming elections, a police spokesman said. The officers also reviewed the law and order situation in the Valley.
“Both officers expressed satisfaction over the synergy that existed between the officers and formations of the two forces. They expressed hope that the security forces would be successful in conducting the upcoming elections smoothly. They directed the officers to ensure that appropriate security arrangements were in place for the peaceful conduct of the elections,” he said.
Bhatnagar said the synergy between the forces should be further strengthened through the active cooperation of the ground level forces. He further assured the police of full cooperation for maintaining peace in the state.
Dilbag commended the forces for maintaining peace despite challenging circumstances and expressed optimism that the police and CRPF would ensure a conducive environment for the elections. — TNS
Hizb ultra held
Srinagar: A militant was arrested in Baramulla district, the police said on Thursday. The police said Hizbul Mujahideen militant Arif Hussain Lone of Nowpora Jagir was arrested at Kreeri along with a pistol. “A case has been registered at the Kreeri police station,” a police officer said. The police said the militant was being questioned. TNS
