Srinagar: The Doctors' Association Kashmir (DAK) has shown resentment over police inaction against a political worker who earlier this week thrashed a senior physician in south Kashmir. A political worker in Verinag in Anantnag on Monday thrashed Dr Bilal Ahmad Ganie when he was attending patients in the emergency ward of Sub-district Hospital. The police have lodged a case against him. "It is unfortunate and shameful that rather than arresting the accused, the police have allowed him to file a counter FIR on false and fabricated basis just to frighten and pressurise the doctor to take the case back," said DAK president Suhail Naik. "Because of these hooligans, most doctors leave the state to work outside.  Such people are real threat to society and must be dealt with the law of land," he said. The DAK appealed to IGP, Kashmir, SP Pani to take suo motu cognisance of the issue and punish the culprits as per the law of the land. TNS
