DPS students win Quiz contest

Students of Delhi Public School (DPS), Jammu, brought laurels by securing the second position in the inter-DPS quiz competition organised by The Delhi Public School Society, New Delhi, held at its Ambala branch on August 3. Of the 14 teams from different DPS branches in North Zone-I, Jammu school won the second spot in the junior group and qualified for the nationals to be held later in Delhi. The topics included general awareness, Indian culture and heritage and current affairs. The merit certificate holders are Divyanshi Mahajan (Class VIII-K), Agrim Nargotra (Class VIII-E) and Shailin Sawhney (Class VIII-E).

Environment awareness programme

An awareness programme on environment was organised at Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar, Jammu. The campaign was dedicated to 550th bith anniversary of Guru Nanak and was organised by an NGO, J&K Rural Sports Club, in collaboration with the Shiksha Niketan Group of Institutions assisted by Social Forestry, Jammu. Chief guest MK Kumar, regional director, Social Forestry, illuminated the young minds with his knowledge about environment and social forestry. In all, 550 saplings were planted by students and teachers. The motive was to inspire the students to protect and develop forest life.

Cultural programme marks I-Day

On the eve of Independence Day, ASHA School, Satwari Cantt, organised a cultural programme for specially abled children. Students of the school showcased their singing and dancing talent during the event. Also, students of Army Pubic School (APS), Damana, interacted with students of ASHA School and enjoyed a small get together.

I-Day, Raksha Bandhan celebrated

Dewan Devi Playway and Higher Secondary School, Rajpura, celebrated the 73rd Independence Day on its premises. The students of the school marked the occasion by presenting a cultural programme, highlighting the unity in diversity of the country. The students also celebrated Raksha Bandhan, wherein they took part in Rakhi making and kite-making competitions. A science exhibition was also organised on the occasion.

Special assembly held

To mark the 73rd Independence Day, Delhi Public School (DPS) Nagbani organised a special assembly. The programme started with a speech highlighting the sacrifice of the freedom fighters for the country. As a mark of respect, a patriotic song was presented by the school's teachers. The programme concluded with a question-answer round based on the history of the day, wherein the students participated enthusiastically. Addressing the gathering, principal RK Verma urged the staff members and students to join hands to build a more prosperous and progressive India.

Plantation drive held

RM Public School organised an environment awareness campaign dedicated to the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. MK Kumar, Regional Director, Social Forestry, was the chief guest. Rameshwar Mengi, chairman, Rita Mengi, trustee, Ravinder Kour, principal of the school, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. Later, the dignitaries planted saplings on the school premises. They urged students to plant more saplings and make the environment pollution free.
