“I am desired to request you to kindly update the secretariat regarding the steps taken to fill the tenure-based post of the Registrar, University of Jammu. You are also requested to mention the reasons for assigning the additional charge of the Registrar to Professor RK Ganjoo, Professor of geology, who has already crossed 60 years of age on April 11, 2019, whereas the age of retirement from services on superannuation for non-teaching employees of the university is 60 years,” Pankaj Bhagotra, Deputy Secretary in Raj Bhawan Secretariat, said in a letter to the Vice-Chancellor on October 23.

On September 27, University of Jammu had removed Professor Meenakshi Kilam from the charge of the JU Registrar and gave the additional charge to Professor Ganjoo.

On the same day, The Tribune had highlighted that Professor Ganjoo was declared “ineligible” for various tenure-based posts advertised by the university from time to time.

Professor Ganjoo was declared ineligible for the post of Director, CDC, and Controller of Examinations as both are tenure-based posts.

Professor Ganjoo had not applied for the post of Registrar advertised by the University. As per the advertisement notice, the selection for the post of Registrar, Director, CDC, and Controller of Examinations will be made for a tenure of five years. The retirement age for university faculty is 62 years. Professor Ganjoo is retiring from the services in April 2021.
