Jammu, February 4
The Society for Integrated Development of Agriculture, Veterinary and Ecological Science, a non-profit organisation, and SKUAST, Jammu, are organising a national conference on the theme “Innovative technological interventions for doubling the farmer’s income”.
SKUAST research director Dr JP Sharma, also the organising secretary of the conference, said the event would be held for three days i.e. from February 8 to 10, and would be attended by 400 distinguished scientists and policy-makers from across the country.
“The conference will focus on the steps and scientific methods to increase the income of the farmers in J&K, which is important to improve the lives of lakhs of people,” Dr Sharma added. He said the issues pertaining to research, development and administration would be identified and, resolutions, recommendations and innovations would be passed on to the state governments.
Dr Vikas Sharma, joint organising secretary, said the vision and mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to double farmers’ income by 2022 AD had become the country’s resolution to explore a plethora of technological options to find out the strategic package to achieve the target.
Senior scientist Dr Vivak M Arya said the conference would focus and discuss issues such as nutrient management, integrated farming, climate resilient agriculture practices, natural resource management and vertical farming.
