A month-long production-oriented folk theatre workshop and interaction session to highlight the rich cultural heritage of the Dogra region concluded on Tuesday.

Experts of different fields interacted with students and delivered lectures, demonstrations and shared their experience while imparting information on the historical background of Dogra culture and its significance.

Kumar A ‘Bharti’, a veteran actor, taught the students basic principles of play writing and said it was high time that they go back to their cultural roots and preserve the rich Dogra cultural heritage.

Famous folk singer Surinder Manhas shared his experience of folk singing with the artistes and stressed that music was a powerful tool for preserving regional culture.

The workshop was conducted by Natraj Natya Kunj with financial support from the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. — TNS
