Gojri writer Khadim Qammar dies

Veteran Gojri writer and poet Choudhary Khadim Qammar passed away at his residence near Poonch on Thursday night after a prolonged illness. He was 75.

Qammar was one of the active members of Anjmun Taraqi Gojri Adab, Poonch, a literary and social organisation established in 1970 for the development of Gojri literature and Gujjar culture in J&K. He also actively participated in the Gujjar cultural revival movement from the 70s onwards.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
