Guru Nanak Dev birth anniversary
Students of the Government College for Women (GCW), Parade, took out a rally on Wednesday on the eve of the ongoing celebrations of 550th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev. A large number of students of the college visited markets around the Parade area, wherein they also recited religious sermons. Many activities were organised on the college premises to mark the occasion.
School holds quiz competition
Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar, organised an inter-school science quiz competition for students of Class IX. There were four teams (two students in each team) in the competition. First position was secured by Shiksha Niketan School, Gandhi Nagar, followed by RM Public School and MVM School who finished second and third, respectively. Principal of the school, Rameshwar Mengi, encouraged all students to participate actively in all activities in future. He also distributes prizes and gifts to the teams.
NCC cadets visit cultural academy
A contingent of 200 NCC cadets who are on tour to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday visited Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. Colonel Sukhbir Singh Assla, CEO of NCC, along with other officers accompanied the contingent. They watched a 16-minute documentary which highlighted the activities of the cultural academy.Colonel Sukhbir Singh appreciated the contribution of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in promoting Art, Culture and Literature.
Guest lecture on MIER premises
The Model Institute of Education and Research (MIER) on Wednesday organised a guest lecture on the college premises. Prof CP Mathur, Principal (retired), Shri Jain Teachers Training College, Alwar (Rajasthan) delivered a guest lecture on the topic Tool Development in Educational Research”.
Inter-Collegiate boxing championship
An Inter-Collegiate Boxing (men) tournament was held at MA Stadium. The tournament was organised by the Department of Dean Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ), wherein Prof Anil Gupta, Principal Government SPMR College of Commerce, was the chief guest. Pugilists from the GGM Science College, SPMR College of Commerce and Government MAM College took part in the competition. Government MAM College emerged as the champion with 20 points. The bouts were officiated by Arif Wani, Richey Kumar, Rahul, Naveen Sharma, Shubham Choudhary and Man Singh.
