Governor Satya Pal Malik offered floral tributes to Girdhari Lal Dogra on his 31st death anniversary at Dogra Chowk, during a function organised by Late Shri Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Trust here today.
The Governor described him as a visionary leader who fought relentlessly for the rights of underprivileged. He observed that Dogra was instrumental in strengthening the economic backbone of the state as a Finance Minister and initiated many reforms meant for ameliorating the weaker sections of society.
Nirmal Kumar Singh, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly; Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation; Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor of the Jammu Municipal Corporation; former legislators and Dogra’s family members were among those present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the Congress, in a separate function, too paid homage to Dogra. J&K Pradesh Congress Committee leaders said best tributes to Dogra would be strengthening the Congress at the grass-roots level as he worked extensively for the uplift of weaker sections. They also described him a true Gandhian who had a staunch belief in secularism, socialism and democracy.
