Srinagar, August 3
A hospital in Srinagar city on Saturday issued an advisory to the doctors and paramedical staff and ordered them not to leave the station without permission. The hospital also cancelled all leaves.
The advisory was issued by Government Bone and Joints Hospital, which told its staff that any dereliction would be dealt with strictly.
“In view of the prevailing situation, it is impressed upon all employees of the hospital that none of them should leave the station without the written permission of the competent authority,” read the order issued by the hospital’s medical superintendent.
It also directed the senior officials and doctors of the hospital to implement the order in “letter and spirit”.
It is the first such directive issued by any hospital in Srinagar since a series of alarming official orders created panic and chaos in the Kashmir valley.
In another order issued by the office of the Block Medical Officer in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, the administration ordered setting up of a control room “in view of the prevailing situation”.
It said the job of the control room would be to look after the day-to-day problems related to patient care, availability of essential drugs, ambulances and the staff in the hospital.
