Jammu, June 3
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has re-established its examination centre for students hailing from the RS Pura area at Miran Sahib.
The move came a few days after The Tribune carried a story in its edition regarding the shifting of the examination centre from Miran Sahib to Doda district for over 200 students from RS Pura.
On May 28, it was reported that students of the IGNOU, Jammu Regional Centre, hailing from the RS Pura area were left in the lurch after their examination centre, which usually was set up at Miran Sahib every year, was established more than 150 km away in Doda district by the IGNOU Head Office, New Delhi.
The students have heaved a sigh of relief after the examination centre was again set up at Miran Sahib. “Finally, the authorities have addressed the concerns of students, who won’t have to travel to Doda district to appearfor the exams,” an aspirant told The Tribune.
“The examinations began on June 1 and all students from RS Pura and adjoining areas appeared at the Miran Sahib centre. As soon as the students got to know about the re-establishment of the centre, they started reaching Jammu. We didn’t waste time and apprised the authorities of the hardships being faced by students. The issue has been resolved,” said an official of IGNOU, Jammu Regional Centre.
