Srinagar, December 3
The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) today sealed an unregistered clinic here.
Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Director, Health Services, Kashmir, said following complaints, the DHSK sent a divisional-level team comprising senior officers to Well Spring Clinics – an invitro fertility (IVF) clinic at Rajbagh locality in Srinagar. The team found that the clinic was running illegally and sealed it under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act and the Clinical Establishment Act.
Dr Rehman said the DHSK was acting tough on all genuine complaints and any illegal or unethical practice would not be allowed to flourish by the department.
The DHSK has constituted a divisional-level committee to inspect private healthcare establishments. “We want better healthcare is provided to the patients under rules and regulations,” he said.
Rehman said inspections of private hospitals were aimed to ensure these institutions adhere to norms and guidelines.
The DHSK on October 30 sealed six health institutions in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. It also sealed several sections of the Shifa hospital – a private health facility in the heart of the city - for violating healthcare guidelines in October. The health officials have found that the hospital administration has no mechanism to dispose of and segregate the biomedical waste.
