Jammu, May 13
Governor Satya Pal Malik has intervened in the controversy over the selection process adopted for filing the posts of probationary officer (PO) across J&K, directing the bank “to declare a uniform cut-off of 40 marks across the state in relaxation of its policy”.
Now, all those candidates who have scored 40 and above in the preliminary test will be eligible to appear for the mains exam. This was announced by J&K Bank chairman Parvez Ahmad on his Twitter handle on Monday.
“Good news for PO aspirants. In view of the various representations received from candidates and also the directions from the Governor, the bank has decided to declare a uniform cut-off of 40 across the state in the relaxation of the policy,” the J&K Bank chairman wrote.
He further said: “All those candidates having assessment score of 40 and above shall be eligible to appear for the mains exam.”
In a notification, the bank said the mains examination which was scheduled on May 20 would now be held on June 17.
A controversy erupted after the recent results of the bank’s online recruitment test for the preliminary examination conducted by Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), Mumbai, for the selection of probationary officers in the bank.
Jammu-based candidates, who scored 60 or above marks in the test, had alleged that the candidates from some districts of the Kashmir Valley with just 40 marks had qualified for the mains while they were held ineligible despite scoring high marks.
The bank, however, claimed that it had kick-started the process of forecasting the district-wise vacancies to quantify the number of posts.
