Speaking at the scheme launch event, Ahmed said, “Punjab is the agriculture capital of the country. It has been the frontrunner in the Green Revolution in the country, leading to food sufficiency. So, we thought that it is relevant and appropriate to launch the J&K Bank Mandi Finance Scheme at Amritsar in Punjab.”

“Taking the relation with Amritsar to the next level, today we are making history by launching our unique customised mortgage loan scheme for the traders of agricultural produce. It will provide hassle-free working capital finance to registered members/merchants/traders dealing with the trade of fruits/vegetables/cereals and other agricultural produce. The scheme, already popular in J&K, will now be operational across all branches of the bank in the rest of India,” he added.

Ahmed said all merchants who were customers of the bank and members of the recognised association of the mandi/registered commission — forwarding agents — concerned could avail this facility at one of the lowest rate of interests in the banking industry.

Meanwhile, customers from Amritsar, Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru had live discussions and interactions with the management of the bank, which covered all areas, including branch expansion, product designing and customer satisfaction apart from discussions on the newly launched mandi finance scheme.

The bank chairman also acceded to the request for opening new business units in the vicinity of mandis at Ahmedabad and Bengaluru.

Those present on the occasion included J&K Bank executive presidents PK Tickoo and RK Chhiber andpresidents Rakesh Gandotra and Arun Gandotra.
