Jammu, December 24
In order to give ample time for students to prepare for the upcoming board examinations of Classes X, XI and XII in Jammu province, the J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) is likely to release the date sheet by January 25.
Sources said the school education board is planning to start the examinations by February end in order to declare the result on time, which has been an issue in the past. They added that another reason for the early release of date sheet is that the board will be holding the Class XI examinations too from the 2018-19 academic session. Earlier, the role of the board in the Class XI examination was just to provide question papers and the invigilating staff used to be from the respective schools. Now, JKBOSE will depute its own staff as superintendents/deputy superintendents at all examination centres across Jammu province.
Roshan Lal Gupta, joint secretary, examination, JKBOSE, told The Tribune, “The date sheet is likely to be issued by January 25. We will try to start the examinations after February 20.” “There will be a gap of four or five days in the dates of commencement of exams for these classes. The practical examinations will be conducted before the theory examinations,” he added. — TNS
