Kishtwar project to provide 2,100 jobs

Srinagar: The administration on Tuesday announced  employment opportunities to 2,100 unemployed youth from the Padder area in the upcoming 930-MW Kirthai-II Hydroelectric Project being built over the Chenab in Kishtwar district. It has also been decided that the funds under the area development plan and corporate social responsibility scheme will exclusively be used for the development of Padder and the Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation authorities have been told to impart skill training to the youths of Padder so that they may get more job opportunities. Industry seeks review of fiscal incentives

Srinagar: In a joint meeting of the Industrial Associations of Bari Brahmana, Samba, Kathua and Udhampur held on Tuesday, the members discussed the fiscal incentives sanctioned by the state government to provide relief to the industrial units of J&K. The agenda included refund of 100 per cent SGST on cash ledger basis, 42 per cent balance CGST under the Central government package and budgetary support in the next state budget in lieu of the central sales tax on the inter-state sale. The members conveyed gratitude to the Chief Minister, Industries Minister, Finance Minister, Financial Commissioner Finance and Commissioner/Secretary. TNS

Andaman & Nicobar students visit state 

Jammu: Maintaining that it has been a dream come true to visit Jammu and Kashmir for the first time, a 19-member delegation comprising 15 students and four escort teachers from the Union Territory (UT) of Andaman and Nicobar Islands termed their maiden visit ‘unforgettable’, which helped them understand the topography and various others unknown aspects of the region. Pertinently, the delegation from Andaman and Nicobar Islands is on a four-day visit to Jammu as a part of the Students Exchange Programme. Of the 15 students, eight are boys and seven are girls. The delegation will leave for the Union Territory on November 3. The 15 students drawn from 12 different schools from Andaman and Nicobar Islands were selected for the programme on the basis of their merit in academics. Vikas Sharma
