The Udhampur campus of the University of Jammu held an extension lecture on “Product Life Cycle Costing” for the postgraduate students of first and third semesters of the Commerce Department on Wednesday.
Professor Mohi-u-Din Sangmi of the Department of Commerce, University of Kashmir, while delivering the lecture, explained the concept of product life cycle and the various stages through which it passes in detail.
Prof Sangmi also discussed various characteristics of product life cycle and classified the product life cycle costs into upstream and downstream costs and gave examples to make it clear to the students.
He also shared his views on the behaviour of sales or costs during different stages of product life cycle. He explained the reporting and controlling of life cycle cost by sharing with the students a life cycle cost reporting model of a manufactured consumer product which gave a better understanding of the concept.
