MCsterilises over 3,500 stray dogs
Jammu, August 20
To contain the adverse impact of burgeoning stray dog population in Jammu, the local Municipal Corporation conducted sterilisation and immunisation of more than 3,500 such dogs here, an official said.
“To date, more than 3,500 stray dogs have been sterilised and immunised ward-wise across the city andthe programme is gathering pace due to utilisation of additional infrastructure and staff,” Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Commissioner, M Raju said here.
The JMC will organise awareness camps as well as anti-rabies and anti-scabies camps in the areas falling within the municipal limits, he added.
The commissioner has also given directions that raids should be conducted on bird and pet breeders who are running their businesses illegally.
Officials said a team of officials confiscated several birds after a raid.
According to Raju, no advertisements of sale of birds from any such selling unit shall be allowed within the Jammu Municpal Corporation limits. — PTI
