A mime competition was held on Monday at the ongoing 'RangTrang-Display Your Talent-2019' being organised by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu (JU), at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium here. The first prize was won by Government College for Women (GCW), Parade, while the second and third positions were secured by the Business School, JU, and Government Degree College (GDC), Kathua, respectively. On September 24, a skit would be conducted at the same venue.
Symposium on plastic waste mgmt
The NSS unit of the GDC, Jindrah, on Monday organised a symposium on "Ways and means of plastic waste management" on the 8th day of Prime minister's nationwide campaign regarding ban on single use plastic. The symposium was held under the guidance of Prof Kalpna Kesar, Principal of the college. Proceedings of the campaign were conducted by Sunil Dutt Sharma along with other members of the NSS committee Dr Seema and Ambika Dogra where 20 NSS volunteers spoke on the topic.
IIM-Jammu, French biz school ink pact
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Jammu, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Montpellier Business School (MBS), a French business school located in Montpellier for academic and research collaboration. The MoU was signed by Prof BS Sahay, Director, IIM-Jammu, and senior representative of Montpellier Business School. The IIM-Jammu is the third IIM to sign MoU with Montpellier Business School besides IIM-Bangalore and IIM-Indore. Initially five students from IIM-Jammu will go to MBS under student exchange programme in 2019-2020 and 15 students will go during the academic year 2020-2021.
Report on skill mapping
Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu (JU), today released the report on skill mapping and skill developmental plan. He also handed over the report to the officials of Chenab Valley Power Projects Ltd. Prof Dhar appreciated the efforts made by the team of Prof Raina and Dr Sharma for preparing this report. He apprised that university has an Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Centre through which training could be imparted for skill courses useful for the people of the area.
GDC felicitates kho-kho team
Government Degree College (GDC), Kathua, organised a function on Monday to felicitate its kho kho men team of THE GDC following their win in the finals of the inter-collegiate tournament organiSed by THE Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu. In the final, GDC, Kathua, defeated GDC, Samba, by 10-4 points. The victorious team of the college comprised of Arjun Kumar, Pushpinder Singh, Danesh Rasgotra, Robin Singh, Ankush Jasrotia, Sanjeev Kumar, Sourav Bhadwal, Shidhant, Ajay Kumar, Jasbir Kumar, Pawan Singh and Rajinder Singh.
