Nod to three BTech courses at cluster university meeting

The first academic council meeting of the Cluster University of Jammu was organised at the Vice Chancellor’s secretariat here on Tuesday.
The meeting was chaired by cluster university Vice Chancellor Prof Anju Bhasin, which was attended by Dean, Academic Affairs; Registrar; Controller of Examination; principals of the constituent colleges; Deans of various faculties; financial adviser; coordinators of integrated programmes; and heads of departments. Prof MA Baba, Prof GM Tibet Baqal and Prof Yasmeen Kawoosa from the Cluster University of Kashmir also attended the meeting.
The council accorded approval to the ongoing academic programmes of the university/colleges, including BA; BSc; BSc (Home science); BCom (General); BBA; BCA; integrated honours programmes in chemistry, English, physics, mathematics, geology, commerce; BEd; and MEd (family and community science) with effect from the academic session 2017-18.
Nod was also given to integrated honours programmes in botany, zoology, history, cultural heritage, linguistics and literature w.e.f the academic session of 2018-19.
New programmes include three BTech courses in computer science and engineering, electronics and communication engineering and electrical engineering; BEd (Special education), MSc-Mathematics (Self-financing evening course); and postgraduate diploma in accountancy (Self-financing).
The academic council also endorsed the statutes for the conduct of the convocation of the cluster university, along with the guidelines governing the workload of teachers and the regulations for cultural and literary activities.
Workshop on digital learning
Jammu: A daylong workshop on online and blended learning was organised by the Cluster University of Jammu on Tuesday in collaboration with Training First, a leading organisation in digital learning transformation.
It was organised for the faculty members of the constituent colleges and schools of the university and inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Anju Bhasin.
In all, 40 participants attended the programme. Prof Poonam Dhawan introduced the concept of massive open online courses, which is a new online medium for course delivery and learning. She deliberated on the feasibility of introducing these courses at the university for the benefit of learners.
The VC stressed the importance of aligning with the national policies to increase the outreach of the innovative courses developed by the university.
Ashish Mehta, CEO of Training First, stressed the importance of delivering small private online courses for personalised and localised learning. TNS
