Srinagar, July 26
Reiterating the role of universities in ensuring preservation of environment, the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) on Wednesday declared to redesignate the old campus of the college of physical education in Ganderbal as the ‘green campus’.
Mehraj-ud-Din Mir, Vice Chancellor, while chairing the third meeting of the planning and monitoring board and the 22nd meeting of the university building committee, stated this.
Officials said members of the board also gave the go ahead for establishing the Centre of Energy, Environmental Technology, and Disaster Management.
“The university has been successful and has received accolades from the stakeholders for holding the first convocation of the university. The university banks upon the members of the Planning and Monitoring Board for future guidance,” the officials said.
“The university is on the top among 14 universities established along with it. However, it is facing several challenges in raising the infrastructure and shifting the academics to the designated campus at Ganderbal. The details about the hiccups have been shared with the Ministry of Human Resources Development and state functionaries,” the VC said.
He said the UGChad granted some additional positions, including that of professors, associate professors and assistant professors, for some departments. — TNS
