The Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ) has started filling of over 600 vacant seats in its constituent colleges in the city.
A new notification in this regard was issued by the university recently wherein students were directed to submit an application mentioning their serial number in the earlier issued merit list and the desired subject combination before July 24.
Dr SP Saraswat, principal, GGM Science College and nodal principal, city colleges, said applications had been invited from students to fill the vacant seats in the constituent colleges.
“The students, who want to change subjects and those who could not get admission because of the non-availability of subjects of their choice, can apply,” Prof Saraswat added.
It was also informed that the final cut-off list of constituent colleges in various subject combinations would be finalised after the completion of the admission process.
In GGM Science College, there are around 300 seats vacant in different subject/streams.
Around 200-250 seats are vacant in Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar. Prof Minnie Sharma, principal of the college, said, “the vacant seats for the economically weaker section are to be filled along with the general category. The final cut-off will be known only after the admission process is over”.
At Government MAM College, approximately 100-150 seats are vacant. Prof Neelu Gupta informed that the exact figure of total vacant seats was being ascertained.
“We are already on the job to find out exact number of seats in order to fill them within the prescribed time,” Prof Neelu said. The Government SPMR College of Commerce has only 15 vacant seats.
