Jammu, February 25
A play, ‘Pulwama’, which was staged at Abhinav Theatre on Monday, left the audience in tears.
A solo performance in the play depicted the pain of the families of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men killed in a suicide bombing in Pulwama district on February 14.
The play was written by theatre artiste and director Neha Lahotra. She is also a junior fellow member of the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training.
Neha played the role of the wife of an unknown CRPF man. She gets the news of her husband’s death while she is planning her first Valentine’s Day.
Her expression and dialogue, which depicted the pain of losing a dear one, made a lasting impression on the audience.
Most of the viewers were in tears. They appreciated Neha’s role in highlighting the sacrifice of the personnel and what their families go through after their martyrdom.
“The attack on the CRPF men was shattering. It was heartbreaking to see their wives, mothers and sisters wailing on TV,” said Neha.
“I wanted to pay my tributes to the brave men who laid down their lives for us. As a theatre artiste, I have done it through a play,” said Neha.
Jammu Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Kumar was the chief guest and Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Team Jammu chairman, was the guest of honour at the event.
