Moderate Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has expressed grief over the sad demise of the daughter of late Abdul Gani Lone and sister of state minister Sajad Lone and Hurriyat executive member Bilal Gani Lone.
Safia Lone, the eldest daughter of Peoples’ Conference founder Abdul Gani Lone, passed away at her Sanat Nagar residence on Sunday evening. She was not keeping well for some time.
Safia was the wife of former senior bureaucrat Saif-ud-Din Lone.
In a statement, Mirwaiz, while expressing sympathies with the bereaved family, prayed for the departed soul.
“Mirwaiz, due to his house confinement since Friday, was not able to visit the bereaved family at Sanat Nagar. However, he expressed solidarity with the family and spoke with Salmaan Lone, son of the deceased, over phone and prayed for the eternal peace for the departed soul,” a statement from the Hurriyat said.
Mehbooba offers condolences to family
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday condoled the demise of Safia Lone, sister of Minister for Social Welfare Sajad Gani Lone, who passed away last evening.
“Mehbooba described Safia as a noble and pious soul with qualities of philanthropy and compassion,” an official statement said. The Chief Minister has extended sympathies to Sajad Gani Lone and the bereaved family while praying for her eternal solace, it added.
