The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday paid tributes to its late leader Tika Lal Taploo, who was killed by militants in Kashmir in 1989.
This incident marked the beginning of targeted killing of the Kashmiri Hindus, leading to the exodus of 3.50 lakh people.
BJP state president Ravinder Raina, Members of Legislative Council GL Raina and Surinder Amberdar were also present on the occasion. The programme was organised by the Kashmir Displaced District, a BJP unit.
A large number of people and party activists also took out a rally to remember the people killed by militants in Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, Raina remembered the contribution of the former leader who was a senior member of the party in Kashmir. He said Taploo stood against the separatist forces and laid down his life for the country.
