Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Monday that Hindus and Sikhs in Kashmir were safe till the state was under a Hindu king.

Addressing a Sikh convention here, Yogi said Hindus and Sikhs became insecure after the downfall of the last Hindu ruler. “Aaj wahan ki sthti kya hai? Koi apne ko surakshit bol sakta hai? Nahi. Hamein itihas se seekhna chahiye (What is the situation today? Is anyone safe? No. We should learn from history),” said Yogi. “Since Independence, this country has not been able not protect Kashmir. Sikh guru Tegh Bahadur sacrificed his life to save Kashmir. Guru Gobind Singh sacrificed his four sons for safeguarding the religion and the country,” he said. — TNS
