People’s Conference chairman Sajad Gani Lone has claimed that the Abdullahs were the “real architects” of the erosion of the special status to J&K and sought to start accountability from the 1975 accord when the Sheikh “ratified previous erosions in the lieu of power”.
Sajad said this while addressing a convention of workers in the Tangdhar area of Kupwara district. He said the People’s Conference would seek a judicial commission probe to punish the perpetrators of the 1987 election. “The blatant rigging in 1987 resulted in the eruption of militancy and the subsequent bloodshed in Kashmir. For things to change and peace to return to the Valley, the culprits of 1987 must be held accountable for murdering democracy,” he added.
Sajad askedwhy was Omar Abdullah “pained when anyone gets killed in the rest of the country while he preferred remaining mum when more than 120 young Kashmiris were killed under his watch as the Chief Minister in 2010?”
“If the records of his regime were to be taken into account, he is the one who let the trample of masses in 2008 and 2010. Why isn’t he vocal about the human right violations that took place between 1996 and 2002?” Sajad asked.
He questioned Omar on “the NC’s role in 1975, 1987 rigging, unleashing Ikhwan and killings between 2008 and 2014.
Meanwhile, Khalid Badana, a prominent political activist joined the People’s Conference in Sajad’s presence.
