Jammu, March 8
‘Meri Pehchan’, a women’s club launched by social worker Sandhya Gupta, today celebrated International Women’s Day at the Amar Singh Club. Meenu Mahajan, Mrs India Exquisite 2018 and a national award winner, was the chief guest.
The event honoured five women of J&K, namely Sujata Anand, president of WOW, a women’s wing of the Chamber of Commerce, Urja Singh, chairperson of Performers NGO and state president of the Betiya Foundation, Medha Arora, Miss Tourism Eva India, 2017, Arti Sharma Arora, Mrs India Exquisite 2017 runner-up and Dr Rinku, director, Cynosure Prep School. — TNS
Celebrating womanhood
- The Chenab Valley Power Projects also celebrated the day at its corporate office. The function was attended by women staff and wives of employees of the company. Discussions onissues concerning women were held. The speakers highlighted the sacrifices made by women and the role played by working women.
- The Vishwa Bharati College of Education celebrated International Women’s Day on the college campus. Students presented colourful programmes, song and dance performances, poetry recital in the honour of women. Prof Sadhu, secretary of the college, appreciated the talent displayed.
