BSP councillor Jannat-Jahan Ul-Haq, who was allegedly assaulted by a few youths, including the son of Latika Sharma, BJP MLA from the Kalka constituency, at Hotel Bella Vista, Sector 5, Panchkula, today gave a four-page complaint to the Panchkula police and also met Punjab and Haryana Governor-cum- UT Administrator Kaptan Singh Solanki who assured her of fair probe.

Jannat Jahan, along with her family, had gone to watch a Sufi nite at the hotel on Thursday when a youth walked up to her, allegedly grabbed her left hand and misbehaved with her. The accused, who was in an inebriated condition, punched her and threatened her with a pistol, she had alleged.

The councillor said she was asked to visit the Mini-Secretariat in Panchkula to submit a written complaint. “I have narrated the entire incident in the four-page complaint,” the BSP councillor said.

In her complaint, Jannat Jahan also stated that a senior BJP leader had asked her to visit his house in Sector 18 on Friday where several BJP councillors and the Kalka MLA also came to persuade her for a compromise. “I have refused to compromise,” she said.

She further said the Governor-cum-UT Administrator gave her a patient hearing and assured her of fair probe in the incident.

Jannat Jahan alleged that on her visit to the Mini-Secretariat, a group of youths misbehaved with her and passed racial remarks.
