Karnal, November 29
The first ‘khula darbar’ of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar of his second term witnessed a plethora of complaints.
In all, 216 complainants got themselves registered to meet the CM personally for their complaints. Of them, the CM gave a patient hearing to around 150 complaints. In most of the complaints, he directed the officials concerned to resolve the issue at the earliest, otherwise stern action will be initiated against them.
In all, 28 complaints were related to the police, 24 to the Municipal Corporation, 21 to UHBVN, 13 to DDPO office, 12 to BDPO offices, 11 each to the Civil Surgeon’s office and District Employment Office, 10 to OSD to CM Karnal, nine to ADC office and eight to the DFSC office. Some of the complaints were related to the BPL application. For the remaining complaints, the CM assured the resolution from his office in Chandigarh.
Several complainants have to return empty-handed as their complaints were not heard by the CM due to the shortage of time. They demanded the CM to give sufficient time to public during ‘khula darbar’ next time. “We came here to raise our issues before the CM, but our complaints were not heard,” said a complainant.
“All grievances were heared by the CM personally. He has directed the officials concerned to resolve the grievances received on Friday at “Jan Sunvai” on priority. The CM will review the status of the resolution of grievances before the next public hearing,” said Vinay Pratap Singh, Deputy Commissioner.
Meanwhile, the CM also inaugurated a railway underpass near Shiv Colony, constructed at the cost of Rs 1.80 crore. It was a long-pending demand of the residents living across the railway lines in Shiv Colony and Shivaji Colony among others.
Talking to mediapersons, the CM admitted that it was a “khula darbar” after a long time. On being asked about the alleged paddy scam, he said the physical verification was going on and it would be completed by December 1. “We will take action if anyone is found guilty,” he added. The CM, however, denied the allegation levelled by former minister Ram Bilas Sharma that the BJP had lost due to his Jan Ashirwad Yatra.
Complainant protests
A complaint against a senior official of the Indo-Israel Centre of Excellence for Vegetables, Gharaunda, related to atrocities under the SC/ST Act came before the CM. SP Surinder Singh Bhoria briefed the CM that a DSP-rank officer had already probed the matter and allegations could not be proved true. The CM directed the IG to inquire the matter. However, the complainant along with other residents protested outside the hall of the Panchayat Bhawan, where the ‘khula darbar’ was organised, demanding an FIR against the officer.
