Nanhi Duniya school celebrated the 16th state foundation day here today. A cultural exchange programme was organised where artistes from ‘Clowns Without Borders’ (CWB) enacted a small play on the theme of equality while children performed a Garhwali folk dance. Having reached more than 35,000 children in over 43 countries in the past year, the UK chapter of ‘Clowns Without Borders’ landed in Uttarakhand to shed light on some of the most pressing issues affecting children in the area. The show was created by artistes Annabel Morgan, Marion Duggan and Daniel (all from UK) and Maria Marta from Spain to promote positive feelings and enhance well-being.

Rupesh Tillu, a disciple of Alok Ulfat and member of Avikal Studio from the last 15 years, is collaborating with the tour of CWB as a director

On its first tour to India, with a crew of four clowns, CWB will be using humour, comedy and silliness to gently explore issues relating to equality with diverse young audiences in Uttarakhand.

Samantha Holds, executive director, CWB UK, said “We know the best way to learn anything is to make it fun. This way it lives long in the memory and can be reflected upon time and again.”
