Praneet Singh Mehta (36) aka Rocket Singh or sales wizard of Royal Market (Khan Market, Delhi) is currently working in Sector 35 Chandigarh. He is interested in changing society as a responsible citizen.

“It was in 2009, when Pakistani writer Fatima Bhutto visited Khan Market. I asked her for a photograph and she asked my name. Before I could tell her, the people who had gathered there shouted Rocket Singh. It came from Rocket Singh the movie, where Ranbir Kapoor plays a role of brilliant salesman and I was also known as sales wizard. Before leaving India, Fatima Bhutto published an article on me in a leading newspaper with the headline Fatima Bhutto meets Rocket Singh. From there I got the name. Even today most people call me by this name,” he says.

Praneet is also working as an active and responsible citizen to fight crime against children. He has so far rescued more than 350 girls in Delhi, who were forcibly or willingly getting involved with bad company, drugs and sexual abuse. He has also been conducting workshops for both parents and students to generate awareness on this subject. Now, he is in Chandigarh to take his mission forward.

What keeps him motivated

His desire to do something for society motivates him to rescue the underage children from the clutches of wrongdoers.

“Being a responsible citizen, I feel it is my duty to guide children, so that they can distinguish between right and wrong. Whenever I see children risking their future, I guide them and counsel them,” he said.

Bringing all into the fold

I conduct workshops in schools where I interact with students and guide them about adultery, sexual abuse, drugs and other issues. I also suggest parents to visit the schools at least once a month and check the attendance of their children.

What are your achievements?

Achievements are those rewards which give you satisfaction and happiness.  I am happy that students are learning from my workshops. I am not alone in this mission, many people have joined me and are helping me as well.

What are your future goals?

I want to spread this awareness across India so that the children who lack guidance can get on correct path.
