One would expect the new phenomenon of Punjabi entertainment industry, who has been voted as the style and youth icon of Punjab, Parmish Verma to be super stylish with an attitude. But what you get after meeting this ‘unbelievably’ humble guy, is an artiste who loves his younger brother Sukhan to zenith, who lives in tracks and tee, who respects and values every little suggestion from his fans, who dare not miss a call from his mother, and someone who will take a right when the rest of the world is moving left, just because his heart said so. After an electrifying performance at Gaana Crossblade, the introvert Parmish lets us into his very basic lifestyle even when life has taken a 360 degree turn.
What has changed!
Firstly, I just don’t see myself as a phenomenon. I haven’t accomplished half of what I set out to do. The reason why I have been away from the public glare is because I believe my work can do all the talking, and this is what has been happening. I am still the same Parmish who believed that the heart can never go wrong.
I am not a singer
Gaal Ni Kadni is a hit because my fans have liked it. I don’t have anything to do with its success. Besides, like professional singers I don’t put a lot of thought into the song. Of course, the content and lyrics are well thought of but nothing like going by a particular genre or any style. A lot of people were telling me to release a club song because they thought it was the need of the hour, but I wanted to do a track for international students and I did just that, so no worries, just go by the heart.
A style icon who’s always in tracks
You can see what I am wearing, black tracks and black tee, would you call me a style icon. In fact, 80 per cent of the time you’d find me in tracks. I have often been told to dress up classily, but can’t help being me and being comfortable.
The story of my father & I
My father Satish Verma and I believe in the fact that we can accomplish anything if we put our faith, heart and right intentions in the task. We had the same dream, to give wings to our dreams.
Sukhan, my jaan
I still remember I was six when I first held my younger brother Sukhan in my arms. I have always annoyed him, and he has always been that quiet one who would go and watch a film without letting anyone know. Something is amiss in life, when he is not around. This is why I had his name tattooed on my arm when I left for Australia to struggle some years back.
My mother, my spiritual connect
I had shared a Snapchat post of nearly 1000 people cheering for me outside a club in Delhi a few days back. My mother got to see the post, she called up to say, ‘Saada jina safal ho gaya’. She is a god fearing woman, and I am sure, now she has doubled her prayers.
Rocky is ready for another take
Rocky Mental was a strong action film but it also had a high emotional content. You will soon see me in two new films with the Omjee Group, let me tell you though, they will be very different from what I have played before, and it certainly wouldn’t be action!
