AIB, Rajat’s films dropped by MAMI
Authorities organising the Mumbai Film Festival by MAMI have decided to drop films associated with AIB and Rajat Kapoor, who have been accused of sexual harassment, from their line up. An official statement has been released by MAMI that says AIB’s Chintu Ka Birthday and Rajat Kapoor’s Kadakh are no longer part of the festival.
The statement reads, “We as an Academy (MAMI) strongly support the #MeToo movement. In light of recent developments, we have decided to drop the following films from our line-up — AIB’s ‘Chintu Ka Birthday’ and Rajat Kapoor’s Kadakh. We want to use this opportunity to open up the conversation, and find solutions to harassment and sexual misconduct at the workplace. Starting with this edition of the festival, we would like to unite the community to find positive and constructive ways to deal with it.”
Meanwhile, Rajat Kapoor has shared a public apology and AIB too has issued a statement that says Tanmay Bhat will not be involved in the day-to-day functioning of the company. Even AIB co-founder, Gursimran Khamba has also been asked to go on extended leave.
