Being Raavan
Ram Yashvardhan who started his career with Marathi films has recently made his television debut with Star Bharat new show Ek Thi Rani Ek Tha Raavan. Here’s Ram in an exclusive chat with us:
This is your first TV show. How does it feel?
It is a big challenge for me but I can assure the viewers that I am here all set to do my best. If the audience accepts me, it would be a big achievement for me.
Tell us about the show.
The show will take you through a journey of a queen who belongs to a broken family and aspires to be educated. She steps out with little enthusiasm everyday fearing someone will stalk her.
You are playing Rivaaj in the show. What made you
choose this character?
Rivaaj depicts the Raavan of today’s generation, a spoiled brat who runs his life and people at his own terms and conditions. For him nothing is right or wrong. Despite negative characteristics, I chose this character because I felt that through Rivaaj I can bring or at least initiate a change in the society.
What is your take on stalking?
The fact that we know stalking is a crime and yet it prevails so absurdly in our society is shameful. I have seen girls who face such issues feeling victimised by the stalkers and the society at the same time. I hope this show evokes the right emotions among the society.
According to you, how should a woman fight against injustice?
I think we often underestimate the power of voice, but in my opinion one has the power to stop his or her perpetrator. A woman should start her fight by raising her voice to drive attention on the criminals and the crimes they commit so blatantly.
What makes this show different from others?
This is my first show and I am too overwhelmed to express my emotions. The story, cast and brand is a power-packed combination to appeal to the audience. I really hope and pray that I can do justice to all the expectations of the viewers.
What’s next in the pipeline?
Ek Thi Rani Ek Tha Raavan is the only project that I am focused on currently and I am giving my heart and soul to it.
