Brunette is boring

Add a dash of colour to your hair, and there you go! An instant makeover! There are various techniques and methods to bring out that change, like panel streaking, colour melting and colour contouring to name a few.
Also, so many different colours are available. The options are endless ranging from highlights to muted shades.
Living coral is the edgier version of the very popular pastel pink trend that we’ve come to know and love.
It works as an everyday colour; it’s soft, easily wearable, yet still empowering and attention-grabbing. Consider this bright shade the 2019 version of rose gold.
Dirty blonde can work for all skin tones. If you have fair skin tone, go with neutral to warm highlights.
“The golden undertone enhances everyone’s eye colour—blues and greens pop while browns look warmer—and softens all skin tones,” says New York-based hair colourist, Stephanie Brown (the woman behind Kate McKinnon’s perfect blonde hue). Jet black is bold and rich. Because of its rich hue, it can wash most skin tones out. While it may work best on olive skin tones, some hair colour experts advise using self-tanner or bronzer to add warmth to your skin.
If you’re obsessed with Emma Stone’s fiery tresses, but not sure if you’re ready for a full head of bright orange hair, you can settle down for strawberry honey.
Closer home, Vipin Sheoran, technical trainer at Jawed Habib-Chandigarh, says, “Subtle shades, honey shades and warm browns are so in for the spring season. Shades of copper and gold are good for dark complexion, whereas blonds go well for the chalky. Our main aim is to reduce facial floss, and choose the hair colour according to their lifestyle, age and preference of the person. The quality of hair colour matters.”
Try it yourself
The colours available in the market are different from those used in salons but are good to go with. The richness of the colour depends upon the correct application and after care of the hair.
The correct procedure of colouring the hair in terms of the application time is 40 minutes on an average for normal hair but this time does vary according to the hair type. Dry hair gets coloured faster than oily hair. Aftercare includes usage of specific shampoos and pre-conditioning is a must. We have some tips for you:
- Tip #1: Do not wash your hair right before you colour it.
- Tip #2: Get the right type of hair dye.
- Tip #3: Always use gloves.
- Tip #4: Apply petroleum jelly. This step, though overlooked, is essential.
- Tip #5: Complete a strand test. This step is not necessary but is helpful if you are not entirely sure about how the colour you chose will look on your hair.
- Tip #6: Apply the hair colour and leave it for the amount of time recommended on the box.
- Tip #7: Take a shower after you dye your hair.
Be patient and take your time with your hair to get the results you desire.
