This Valentine’s Day has a love triangle slated for Pollywood lovers. Starring Binnu Dhillon, Sargun Mehta and Jordan Sandhu, Kala Shah Kala has been written and directed by Amarjit Singh. It might be the director’s debut film, but its star cast is quite confident that it is an out-and-out entertainer. Jordan Sandhu says this quirky love story has the right amount of comedy and other emotions to make it successful. “It’s a period romance set in the background of a bygone era. It shows the complexes of a man with a dark skin tone. There is no looking down upon anyone, but the world’s obsession with fair skin is reflected in the undertone. Kala Shah Kala is full of twists and turns and I can promise a fun time to the viewers.”

Hands full

Jordan was recently seen playing the lead role in Kaake Da Viyah. From a character role in Subedar Joginder Singh to becoming the protagonist in his second, this singer-turned-actor is scaling new heights and has his hands full. “Acting just happened and it is music that made it happen, so I feel very grateful to all the love my fans and colleagues have given me.”

Having back-to-back films could be quite time-consuming and taking him away from music? “No, there is nothing of that sort. I am doing both acting and singing simultaneously. There may not be many new singles, but I am singing in the films.”

Knowing that Jordan Sandhu became a sensation with his singles such as Teeje Week, Handsome Jatta, Muchh Rakhi Aa, it’s only natural that his fans are waiting for another peppy number. The singer understands these expectations. “I am ready with another song titled Mashoor Ho Gaya; we worked for six months on this one and we’ll soon make its video. If you like my Teeje Week, you are bound to enjoy this one as it has the same feel to it.”

Credit to mother

Jordan gives the credit of his success to his mother, who encouraged him to take up music as a career. “My mother used to write songs; played them on tape-recorder and then make me learn them. I would sing along and that is how it all began. She chose the profession for me. Then, during college days I would participate in various competitions and got better at it. I entered the industry in 2015, but had been learning music much before.”

So, who chose Jordan as his stage name? “My name is Jaswinder Sandhu, but my mentor Bunty Bains gave me the name Jordan.”

For him, it’s all about moving ahead with determination now.
