Hollywood actress Taraji P. Henson says that she wants to eradicate the stigma against mental health. Speaking about it she said, “Are you ashamed of a broken ankle? Are you ashamed of having to get a root canal?” She added that demonizing mental illness is not healthy.

Talking about post-traumatic stress disorder, Taraji said that it can be triggered just by powering on the television, doesn’t matter if you’re black, white, Asian.

The What Men Want actress also emphasised the importance of having an open dialogue about mental health. Talking about her own struggles, Taraji said that she is not perfect and just because she is a celebrity and has money, doesn’t mean that there are no problems and issues.

“I have struggled for a long time, both being public and not public about my mental health issues or my mental illness. But, I truly believe that secrets keep you sick,” she said.

Lately, many celebrities have come out discuss this less-talked-about issue. Earlier this month, reminding us that even a member of the British royal family is, after all, a human, Prince William, spoke about it too. — ANI
