Diljit Dosanjh, the name definitely needs no introduction today, not even in South Africa, because he has a strong base there as well, like he has across Punjab, India and the rest of the world. But Do You Know, this star too has had his fan moments! We’ll return to this shortly, but before that there is much up his sleeves (and for those of you who don’t know, he designs these sleeves himself) that he would like to share!

As audiences and his fans get to see him on every Saturday and Sunday along with two other judges on a music reality show, Rising Star season 2 on Colors, Diljit tells us how he had never imagined the reach of television and the connection that it would help him make with people across the country.

The Rising Star

I wasn’t sure when I decided to be a part of the music reality show Rising Star. I had even given up a film to be a part of this show, but I was still sceptical. However, when the show was aired, I realised that this medium had a huge reach. It felt as if I was watching my new film release every Saturday and Sunday. Thereafter, wherever I went, people would ask me about the show. This year too we hope to touch more hearts and reach a wider audience.

Quiet corner

I’ve always been shy about expressing myself, showing my emotions. Though, I have started to show emotions now, I haven’t been able to open up totally.

Twitter talk

I have seen Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and it’s a job well done. But, I don’t want to get into any debate on Twitter. So, when people tweet something, I simply reply with a smiley. Look, I don’t have PR machinery that will take care of all this!

My statement

At home or with friends, I am ‘this person’ who would live in his T- shirts for 3-4 days without changing them. I move around in chappals, in fact my mother keeps saying that I should at least wear shoes while going out. As far as styling is concerned, since I am a turbantor, which also means I have an added responsibility, I like to dress in a way that I stand out. So, I am my own stylist.

Fan moment with Kareena

For Udta Punjab’s story narration, I was invited at Kareena Kapoor Khan’s house. All that while, when I was waiting in her drawing room, I was telling myself, this can’t be true! But when Kareena Kapoor came out and said hello, main keha bus hun tan. That very moment is etched in my memory beautifully, and I think there can be no other fan moment bigger than this.

Bollywood & the beauties

For me, it’s the script and my role in the film that is the deciding factor. If the film also has a known actress, well, that means a wider reach and audience; even better.

Being humble

I don’t know if being humble or grounded has anything to do with growing success...because mainu huney vi kai galan tey gussa andan hai and yes, I am not that humble!
